The Trail of the Wrecked Camera

These are some of the photos taken few months back when we went to visit Musattar's home in Luuk, Kapaya, Sulu. The place is faraway from Jolo town.

Only the main road is cemented, the rest sorry.

Musattar with his Suzuki Raider heading to vulcanizing shop for tire interior replacement.
It took an hour before we reached the simple house below. We were stopped for few minutes and took some pictures. But this house had no adult persons to talk to. I'm sure if any we would have been invited to drink some native coffee or kahawa sug.

Simple house with the Sulu Sultanate Flag hoisted on its side.
I didn't expect we could passed through the worst road with Suzuki Raider. I frequently walked on the stony and worst road. And let my driver drove alone for few meters to skip from slippery soil.  What an exciting trek was it maybe when we had rented big motor.

This is the Kapaya Mosque, look how they value the Sulu Sultanate Flag
Our goal is to reach Luuk, Kapaya no matter how difficult it was. Thanks Allah, we did.

Luuk Kapaya was named after the miracle Papaya. According to Musattar, long time ago there was an el-ninyo happened in Kapaya. Many peoples had died of starvation. No food to be found even cassava. The natural calamity last for months. One day, the people in the community blessed with Papaya. The papaya fallen like rain from the sky.  There were thousands of papaya sent down and many people had survived. From then the named of that place was change to Kapaya.

Before, we arrived to main Kapaya, we passed by this calm mosque. This mosque would serve as the gathering or meeting (Langgal) place in any religious or cultural occasions such as Prophet's birthday celebration, Nisfu Sya'ban, Friday prayer and two Hari Raya. The Langgal in Kapaya is a place where the second Sulu Sultanate flag was re-hoisted.

To the right side of the mosque we found an old fort of the Tausug. This fort is named as "Kuta' Maas". According to the locals, this fort existing before the Americans arrived to Sulu. On this fort you can access to cellular phone network. After taking some photos here we went to the coastal area called Gimbawun.
